Classic Scrambling

Classic Scrambling

Welcome to Classic Scrambling

Scrambling has been described as adventurous walking or easy rock climbing. It sits between the two and should never be underestimated for its' adventurous value. Moving steadily up steep areas of rock requires concentration and agility. To do it safely also requires good guidance and instruction.

Scottish Scrambling

If you fancy having a go at the classic scrambles in the UK such as the North Ridge of Tryfan and Bristly Ridge in North Wales or Sharp Edge and Striding Edge in the Lake District or the Aonoch Eagach and Curved Ridge in Glencoe, Scotland simply get in touch and we can help you realise your ambitions.

What our clients say

Some feedback from our past Classic Scrambling clients.

The weekend scrambling was pitched just right with a well judged mix of confidence building and pushing me outside my comfort zone (I've  only done a couple of rocky walks). Dan managed to balance humour with authority to focus the mind without making me feel I was being "taught", I've  been left with a sense of  achievement and can't wait  to get out again to practice:- it will add even more fun to our walks in the fells.
Cheers Dan.

Hi, my name is Mark Rutherford and I run a sports therapy business called Kelso Sports Massage Clinic . I approached Dan last year to help me become a more proficient navigator as I'm a keen mountain walker. Dan took his time to make sure I understood the theory and then I put it into practice on the hills. He allowed me to correct any errors and confirm my location, this was very helpful.

In preparation for my trip to Skye I had a day in the Lakes with Dan to gain confidence with using ropes and knots whilst testing my skill on the rocks and at height.

The trip to the Cuillins in June 2016 was the highlight of all my trips in the mountains. I struggled with it a lot but Dan kept quietly giving me the encouragement to keep going. I always felt safe but was challenged enough to gain confidence. He was always giving me valuable tips to use when in the mountains and wasn't just 'guiding me'. I will be using his services again in the future.
